GYROKINESIS® Applications for Vocal Production

Thursday-Saturday, March1-3

Tuition: $350 + $150 studio fee

In this workshop created by Michelle, GYROKINESIS® trainers explore how to work with clients who use their voices for a living - singers, actors, public speakers, teachers - anyone and everyone who wants a healthy, robust, supple, and expressive voice. The approach combines the benefits of GYROKINESIS® principles and exercises with tried and true vocal techniques to release tension, support the breath, open the throat, create resonant sound, and integrate movement and vocal production with freedom, ease, and vitality. The workshop covers basic vocal anatomy and addresses common problems and challenges found among singers, actors, and other public speakers. 

This workshop does not yet qualify as an Update course.

GYROKINESIS® Level 1 Pre-Training Course

Tuition: $550 + $200 studio fee

Registration Deadline: March 22, 2018

The GYROKINESIS® Level 1 Pre-Training Course is the first course of the GYROKINESIS® Level 1 Teacher Training Program. It provides a foundational understanding of the GYROKINESIS® Level 1 exercises and prepares students physically for the GYROKINESIS® Level 1 Foundation Course. Upon successful completion of the Pre-training course, students are qualified to proceed to the GYROKINESIS® Level 1 Foundation Course.


 

A Dynamic Exploration of the Anatomy of Breathing

Saturday, April 21, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Pilates Method Alliance CECs: 5 hours

This mat and prop-based workshop provides Pilates and other exercise professionals with very real tools for helping their clients breathe better and more effectively, as well as ways of using different kinds of breath and breathing exercises to facilitate a deeper, more successful movement experience.

This workshop created by Michelle, begins with a comprehensive overview of the anatomy of respiration and continues with an exploration of exercises to achieve the following:

  • Develop a deeper awareness of the entire respiratory mechanism
  • Train the respiratory mechanism to function fully and effectively
  • Relieve tension through the breath
  • Inspire energetic and supported movement

Come prepared to move!

Vocalates™ Workshop: Applying the Pilates Method to Vocal Production

Picking up where A Dynamic Exploration of the Anatomy of Breathing workshop leaves off, this workshop covers basic vocal anatomy and introduces a series of mat and small prop exercises customized expressly for singers, actors, public speakers, and anyone who wants a healthy, robust, supple, and expressive voice.

Created by Michelle, the Vocalates™ method is a system of exercises designed to help support the breath, create resonant sound, and integrate movement and vocal production with freedom and ease. Principles and exercises drawn from Pilates, yoga, qi gong, and the Alexander technique are employed to help create an open, supported, communicative, and resilient vocal instrument for speaking and singing.

The workshop gives the Pilates professional very real tools for working successfully with singers, actors, and other public speakers and for addressing common problems and challenges found among this population.

Come prepared to move and to speak a short passage and/or sing a few bars of a song.

GYROKINESIS® Level 1 Foundation Teachers Training Course

Tuesday-Friday, June 19-22 + Tuesday-Saturday, June 26-30

Weekdays Noon-7:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Tuition: $950 + $250 studio fee

Registration Deadline: June 5, 2018

This course provides a more in depth understanding of the exercises in the GYROKINESIS® Level 1 60-minute format class and 90-minute format class, and provides students with the specific skills and techniques to teach these exercise sequences to others. During this course, the Master Trainer introduces the principles, and teaching techniques underlying the GYROKINESIS® Level 1 exercise syllabus.

August

GYROTONIC® Level 1 Pre-Training Course

Monday-Saturday, August 6-11

Weekdays Noon-7:30 PM, Saturday 9:30 AM to 5:00 P

Tuition: $850 + $200 studio fee

Registration Deadline: July 23, 2018

The GYROTONIC® Level 1 Pre-Training Course is the first course of the GYROTONIC® Level 1 Teacher Training Program It provides a foundational understanding of the GYROTONIC® Level 1 exercises and prepare students physically for the GYROTONIC® Level 1 Foundation Course. During this course, students focus on gaining experience and developing a personal understanding of the exercises on the Pre-Training Course exercise list. Once students have successfully completed the GYROTONIC® Level 1 Pre-Training Course, they may proceed to the GYROTONIC® Level 1 Foundation Course.

Pre-requisite: Ideally the student has taken GYROTONIC® private sessions prior to the start of the course and is familiar with the Progression 1 exercises.

GYROTONIC® Applications for Equestrians Course

Registration Deadline: February 15, 2018

The GYROTONIC® Applications for Equestrians Course is approved by Juliu Horvath as a Certified Trainer Update course. Michelle created this course for the Certified GYROTONIC® Instructor who wishes to work more effectively with an equestrian clientele. Over three intensive days, we will practice doing and teaching GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® exercises off the horse that will help horse riders to perform better when mounted – exercises that can ultimately improve the way riders communicate with their horses and help keep their bodies healthy for riding. Attendees will learn about common riding goals and pitfalls and how to design private sessions and classes to address them. All Certified GYROTONIC® Instructors are welcome. A familiarity with horse-riding is a plus, but it is not a requirement to attend the course. All participants will receive a course manual.

Pre-requisite: Must be a fully-certified GYROTONIC® Level 1 instructor.

This course offers a more in-depth understanding of the GYROTONIC® Level 1 curriculum and provides students with the specific skills and techniques needed to teach these exercises to others. During this course, GYROTONIC® Master Trainer Michelle Spinner introduces the teaching techniques and principles underlying the GYROTONIC® Level 1 exercise syllabus and introduces the complete GYROTONIC® Level 1 exercise curriculum.

December

GYROTONIC® Level 2 Pre-Training Course – Program 1

Thursday-Saturday, December 6-8

Weekdays Noon-7:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Tuition: $350 + $150 studio fee

Registration Deadline: November 22, 2018

 This 3-day course introduces Certified GYROTONIC® instructors to the Level 2, Program 1 exercises and prepares them for the GYROTONIC® Level 2, Program 1 course. Students must complete the Level 1 Program 1 course within one year after completing this Pre-Training course.

Pre-requisite: Must be a certified GYROTONIC® Level 1 Trainer (having successfully completed the Final Certificate course) for a minimum of 4 months before registering for this course.
